Might AI transcripts have a chilling effect on team bonding?

During COVID, video calls and accompanying chats became the home of light banter and funny gifs that ran alongside meetings. This slightly silly behaviour looks childish, frivolous and a waste of taxpayer money to anyone from the outside world looking at Gemini meeting transcripts.

But this is the stuff that cements relationships, builds teams. We can talk about serious things without taking ourselves too seriously. We often couldn’t do difficult jobs without that light-heartedness. And we certainly can’t live every meeting as if the transcript was going to be presented to a Public Inquiry, surely?

Though they might be. Or become the subject of an FOI, or a Subject Access Request.

“Audree joked about Chris’ jumper being made from human skin” might make total sense as an in-joke…but will the fact that such conversations are starting to become a newly-recorded part of the public record stop us from building the connections we need with our team mates?
